Sited on a quarter-acre plot on a cul de sac just blocks from the Plaza in the Town of Taos, we create a single-family retirement home, all on one elevation. No steps anywhere. We work to create an Aging-in-Place home that will last a lifetime while respecting and anticipating potential future needs. The design has, among other things, a guest suite that can be easily converted to live-in caregiver quarters.
The client has amassed a collection of fine antique furniture and classic new pieces. The new home is designed with each piece specifically placed to its best advantage.
Each view, each piece of furniture, each sequence of rooms has been carefully considered.
The public rooms, the master bedroom, and study face south by design. Light and solar gain. We achieved a maximum square footage of just under 3,000, to keep within strict budget constraints. The two-car garage is angled away from the visual approach to the home and provides ample storage. A large courtyard and arbor will house an outdoor kitchen for entertaining.
